FAQs

What type of garage door is most secure?

Gone are the days of flimsy garage doors. All of our garage doors offer good security. If you are interested to know what type of garage door is most secure, look for the police certification “Secured by design” (SBD).

With traditional up & over doors two of our the products we supply, Hormann and Garador in the Up and Over range offer an exceptional and unique security locking system on their Guardian range of garage doors. The corners of the garage doors are fixed behind the frame at two points, there is also an option to have a four point locking system. These products have an antilock kit which will protect a forced opening.

The Guardian range comes with 4 point locking as standard, They also have 3 additional features to the standard up & over door;

  • Improved lock security with additional steel plates added at the base corners of the door to protect the bottom locking system.
  • High security bracing. There are at least 8 door braces rather than 2 at the back of the door for extra protection.
  • A reinforcing plate and anti-snap cylinder has been added to the lock to prevent attacks against the locking mechanism

When it comes to roller shutter doors, the Alluguard 77 comes with the SBD certification as standard and the market leading Seceuroglide range offers the Excel roller shutter which is the most secure domestic roller shutter on the market.

Sectionals are in our opinion the most secure of any garage door and again Hormann set the benchmark when it comes to this range of doors. By fitting a Hormann insulated sectional garage door with a Hormann motor your garage would gain the police certication “secured by design”. What makes Hormann so good. Their motors have a unique metal pin which locks into the motor rail after the door has operated.
